    FN Records Update #5

First of all I want to thank everyone who has contributed to the Ghost Mall Tour 2010 Kickstarter Project. We are 58% of the way there!

Sorry we've been so absent. The end of the semester is rough. Here is some news and some things to look forward to:

-First of all, SHOW TOMORROW! 8pm at KITTY CITY in New Paltz. The lineup is The Whiskey Diary, John Warren, Wood Burning Stoves, feelings. and Ghost Mall. Get psyched! $3-5 donations.

-We have a new contributor, Nikki Wertheim. She'll be helping with posting little album burbs etc. I used to work with her on The New Paltz Oracle. She rules.

-Speaking of Nikki, her first post will be today. We are releasing the Wood Burning Stoves' EP.

-There will be a winter compilation coming out. Keep an eye out.

-QUARTERBACKS and John Warren are doing a split!

-We are releasing Anthony Parks' record next week!

-Ghost Mall has been recording. It is looking like a 6 song EP or whatever you want to call it. 4 songs are practically done. 2 have yet to have any work done on them yet. It's all going really well. We're looking at a February 2010 release.

-Sunshower Orphans finally has their shit together! They have four shows lined up. Go see them. They are fantastic. Also, I heard they covered Ghost Mall at their last practice.

That is all. Thanks for hanging in there!

The MOST INTENSE Friendly Neighborhood Undertaking Yet!

Sorry we've been so quiet lately. But here is something big!

    Here's the deal.

Ghost Mall wants to go on tour but we're broke. So we teamed up with Kickstarter to procure some funds. Depending on how much you pledge, you get a different reward! If we don't make the $1000 then we don't get any of it. Also, the money you pledge does not get charged to your account until February 19th 2010. So if you dig Ghost Mall, we would be syched if you could pledge some of your hard earned funds.

    Love,
    Pierce

    SS-FNR002 - Sunshower Orphans - Polly Anastasia

    Sunshower Orphans - Polly Anastasia

Sunshower Orphans is one of my favorite bands. It is only fitting that my favorite song is the a-side of this digital single. Sure, there may be a lot of bands doing the whole Loveless worshipping wall of sound type thing. But this isn't hero worship. This is learned pop prowess. "Polly Anastasia" is shoegaze at it's finest. Just wait until the ba da ba's kick in.

2/4/10 Update: This is no longer available on FNR because it will coming on on 7" in the near future. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    FN Records Update #4

Small delay. Expect something in the next couple of days.

Also, my good friend Nikki will be in charge of some postings. So if you see her name, don't be surprised.

In the meantime, listen to QUARTERBACKS.

    FN Records Update #3

    This is a quick one.

    TOMORROW NIGHT AT 7:30PM
Ghost Mall will be playing a few songs acoustic and getting interviewed on The Edge's Live n' Local radio show. If you live in the Hudson Valley, tune your dial to 88.7FM but if you live in the farther reaches of the state or country, go to wfnp.org and click "Tune In Live!" on the right side.

If you miss the radio show, we will be releasing the songs we play on Halloween! Right here!

Also, how is the new layout for the Web site? Is there anything missing or needed? Let me know.

    BB-FNR001 - Ghost Mall - Smiley Art Bootleg 10.17

Ghost Mall - Smiley Art Bootleg 10.17

The first entry in our Basement Bootleg series. These recordings come from the most recent show in the basement of the Smiley Art Building on our campus. No cops. Just rock. Seven tracks of Ghost Mall-y goodness. This is pretty rough but listenable. Enjoy.

    FN Records Update #2

    Hello again,
So we have actually started stuff here at FNR. Moving to Tumblr was a fail. Something about it didn't quite sit right with me.
As far as actual FNR updates, we have a number of new releases. Here they are:

Literally Hours away - Ghost Mall - Smiley Art Bootleg

11/02 - Sunshower Orphans - Polly Ana single (I am so excited for this one. "Polly Ana" is my favorite SO song.)
    11/09 - Wood Burning Stoves - EP

    Other news:
-Minor Constellations mastermind Dean Engle has started a new band called Quarterbacks.
-Our friends, Sharks Roar, are recording!
-Math the Band and Data Dog are playing at Kitty City in New Paltz on 10/24. I want you to go to there.
-Ghost Mall is actually recording from November 6-8 with DJ Teenwolf. This will be incredible.

    Get psyched,
    Pierce

FNR003 - Fire to Wood - Upstate Revelry

Fire to Wood - Upstate Revelry

Fire to Wood is Mike Godici. He is a ramblin', travelin' man. At this very moment I have no idea where he is but I'm never surprised to hear that he's wandering around this country of ours. His music is for riding across state lines in a kind stranger's car. Travel-worn, cigarette stained front porch acoustic folk songs for loving and living in squalor.

    SS-FNR001 - moon trees - gris/dogjoy

    moon trees - gris/dogjoy

Synth, samples, and static remind us that when words fail, music explains things unspoken. Moon Trees' first digital single will lull you into an anxious sleep or keep you awake and thinking. The words "beautiful" and "free" now have a soundtrack.

This is FNR's first release in our digital single series. I couldn't be happier having the inaugural release come from one of my closest friends (and band mate in Ghost Mall), Alex Letourneau.

FNR002 - The Wire Hangovers - We All Know You Got This

The Wire Hangovers - We All Know You Got This

Finally some new songs from the band formerly known as The Sweaters! Brian Deodat, Jon Greco, Tom Hanley and John Warren (Yep, same guy) have crafted an EP of perfect suburban punk rock gems. These songs were born from conquering frustration and regret. They are the realization that yeah, it can only get better.

    FNR001 - John Warren - Survival Songs

Here it is folks, our inaugural release. I couldn't have asked for a better way to begin.

    John Warren - Survival Songs

What is there to say about this record? Honestly, I don't think I could say enough. This is music in it's rawest form. A man with his guitar sorting himself out between chords and broken strings. This is a record about living and almost giving up. This is a record for your closest friends to throw on as the night is winding down and your buzz is wearing off. This record will say to them all the words you're too embarrassed to slur.

    Upcoming Releases

    John Warren - Survival Songs
Five heartbreakingly earnest songs. John dug down deep for this one. This record will destroy you. If you've ever had friends and dreams and you seem like sometimes you're failing at both, this is for you.

The Wire Hangovers - Untitled EP
Haven't even heard this yet. John Warren, Tom Hanley, Jon Greco and frequent Ghost Mall skins fill-in Brian "Roy" Deodat give us some fist pumping, basement born punk rock jams.

    Bug Bites - We Are
Sideways pop songs by a man that I have only ever met once. Challenging but in the best way.

    bertnjerm - Shadamophone
Fucked up and messed around. Sounds like two guys taking apart instruments and putting them back together wrong to create some strange tunes.

Ghost Mall - Basement Bootleg I
From our show on 09/18/09 at Kitty City. Recorded on a voice recorder. If you can wade through the massive volume and distortion, you'll love this.

    videos and news

First things first, Ghost Mall is recording this weekend with DJ Teenwolf of Ninjasonik fame (or infamy?). We are psyched. Don't know what part FNR will play in this but there will be updates.

    Now onto the videos.

These are from a July 24th show at The Tank in NYC. Ghost Mall, Sunshower Orphans and a band who will not be named because they are rude played.

Both videos are by Kevin Korber at Eating the Document.
